Here is a list that compiles some stoner classics throughout the years. All of the songs listed below are worthwhile not only for their musical quality, but also for their direct references to ganja culture. There are many music listeners and musicians who have found their muse in mary jane, but these artists decided to write a song specifically about her, launching them into the halls of stoner history. So here it is, in no particular order, The Top Ten Stoner Songs.
Peter Tosh didn’t just smoke it, he believed in the cause, and wasn’t afraid to speak out for it. Certainly the most blatantly political song on the list, Tosh’s simple message “Legalize it, don’t criticize it” was a rallying call for tokers everywhere.

Beginning with a sample of guitarist Tony Iommi coughing, Black Sabbath’s ode to recreational pot use was a different kind of love song, one only Ozzy could sing.

Hooting, hollering, and nearly breaking into outright laughter, Dylan and the band are in high spirits on this track from the landmark album Blonde on Blonde. Repeating the phrase “Everybody must get stoned” over and over again never sounded so good.
“Light it up, roll it, pass it around.” Mad Lib, his alter ego Quasimoto, and loads of samples all describe the many ways to blaze in this hip hop mini masterpiece.

It isn’t the most well known song, but “Highway 420” from the Canadian instrumentalists’ debut album is a worthy stoner jam, with over 8 minutes of ambient sounds, guitar grooves, doubled drums, even a sax solo.
