Another tastebud blowing hybrid, Chocolope doesn’t quite live up to your wildest imagination, but it comes close. A cross between OG Chocolate Thai and Cannalope Haze, neither flavor dominates the mix, instead both serving as subtle layers to the smoke. Grind it up and you’ll get whiffs of cocoa, the same sensation delivering an earthy smokiness to the bowl. There’s the sweet round off of cantaloupe too, an ever so slight melon tang.
Before you get to smoking, though, take time to stop and study the flowers. Starting with light green buds overlapped with darker leaves, the surface of the strain is covered in hairs and crystals, a regular THC extravaganza. There’s something special going on here, you can see it on every stem. Like the best hybrids, you can spot the mix at play before it ever hits your head.
There’s Indica in there, you can smell it and you can feel it, but just a little, enough to loosen the body and let the head run free. When I say this is Sativa dominant, I mean it. From the get go, the high is up, bright, and productive with a taste of that childlike wonder from your first few times. Not that the high is intense, because it is extremely smooth, it’s just a strain that will take you places, not only to the most comfortable spot on the couch.
If you’ve been looking for that perfect herb to hit before a hike, make some music to, or just feel really good about it, Chocolope might be the answer. Where the Indica comes in handy is with the complete lack of jitters or physical blocks. The body isn’t antsy, full of nervous energy, or popping up with odd hot spots, it’s locked into the same groove your head is. You feel good, you feel friendly, and best of all, you’re carefree.
After an adventure or two, you might be in the mood for a nap, but I wouldn’t take this medicine right before bed. Chocolope is best served for stress, depression, and anxiety, the mellow euphoria overwhelming any mental roadblocks. You might get the muchies and your muscles will certainly relax, but this doctor’s specialty is the head.
I’m a believer in Chocolope, but I’m also a sucker for a good heady high. Am I day tripper or are you feeling it too?
