A product of the infamous Hemp Center dispensary in my hometown of San Francisco, CA, Girl Scout Cookies, or GSC as its more affectionately referred to, is a hybrid of two buds which already pack quite the wallop on their own. Bred by Bay Area rapper Berner, this strain combines OG Kush, Durban Poison, and Cherry Kush to create a 70/30 “indica-dominant” that feels like anything but.
Upon first handling the buds it was clear they had been taken care of by an expert grower, and that he knew how to properly nurture the genetics to their potential. Heavily lined with crystals, the light green of the flower barely shines through past all the white, and the red hairs are more light orange this time around, bordering on the edge of yellow.
We smoked it through an 18” RooR bubbler, and the milk plumes came through smooth and full without a hint of wasted space. Unfortunately the flavor profile takes much of its inspiration from the Cherry side of the family, without many hints of your favorite Girl Scout cookies to be found on the way in or out. This leads me to believe the GSC moniker was just a creative way of setting his strain apart, but the taste is still quite pleasant nonetheless.
Euphoric and uplifting, these buds have the strange effect of providing both the pain relieving qualities we’ve come to expect from heavy Kushes like OG and Cherry, while still enabling you to be active and coherent for at least a good two or three hours of the night before the indica finally kicks in and puts you to sleep.
I’d recommend this for anyone who’s just gotten home from work, as it allows you to relax and mellow down without completely taking you out of the game for good. You’ll still have the wherewithal to get the house chores taken care of and make some dinner, but by the time you’ve got a full stomach and a comfy couch it’ll feel like just the right moment to pass out.
