Fresno County decided to drop its marijuana fines. Here’s the story:
A Del Rey woman will not be fined $43,000 for allegedly violating Fresno County’s ban on medical marijuana, it was confirmed Wednesday.
Lawyers for the county confirmed that the fines will not be assessed. But still to be determined by a judge are whether any attorney fees and court costs will be paid.
The case will not affect anyone else fined under the county’s 10-month-old medical marijuana cultivation ban. Several lawsuits are still pending over the county’s ordinance.
Fresno County supervisors affirmed with a closed session action earlier this month that they would not fine Phaeth Holapatiphone $43,000 — $1,000 for 43 plants — for growing medical marijuana in the backyard of her mother’s home.[…]
