When I first moved to Southern California I was amazed at the mass amounts of dispensaries on every block. They were as abundant as the McDonald’s or Starbucks. I was like a fat kid in a candy store – HEAVEN! The choices were almost overwhelming – “Where do I go?” “What do I say?” “How much is marijuana from a dispensary?” “What edibles will they have?”
So many questions raced through my mind – just thinking about visiting my first dispensary made me giddy..a natural high.
One would think WeedMaps would be the best place to start – but in fact I chose the very first collective that I stumbled upon when I first moved (to ask how to obtain a medical marijuana license.) The guys seemed nice and they were helpful so I went back. Definitely glad I did. This place was awesome.
They all look different but for the most part they consist of 1 large room for patients, a front waiting/check-in area, and a back room or several back rooms for employees and products.
The question is – what can’t you buy! Walking in to my first dispensary was amazing. I didn’t know where to look. So many counters full of marijuana, edibles, products, weird gadgets I had never seen…it was crazy, but awesome!
I was amazed at the variety of edibles and even liquids. Hot sauce, BBQ sauce, drinks..products I didn’t even know existed. My favorite edible at this particular dispensary was XXX Goldfish. They were bomb. Basically it was a small bag of medicated Goldfish crackers that had a special seasoning on them…so delicious and talk about stoney baloney. I ate 11 Goldfish at the pool one day – on an empty stomach and about 1.5 hours later I was feeling great. Very strong body high…perfect day to lay out at the pool!
I went all out on the edibles for the first few months as I was so amazed at the possibilities! It was more like an experiment for me to try out as many as I possibly could just to see what they were like. I eventually got burnt out of edibles and found that my body doesn’t react to them enough for me to continue buying consistently. Several times I either didn’t eat/drink enough or they weren’t strong enough or my body just didn’t react accordingly. I can say that my favorite so far have been the Goldfish and Cannaba Creations hard candies.
Pretty much everything! Take a look at the pictures above to see a few of my dispensary purchases.
As far as flowers go – dispensaries typically carry a variety of cannabis sativas, indicas, hybrids, concentrates, hashish, etc. They have varying levels of marijuana from mid-grade to premium grade. 420Cali.com will provide future articles explaining and illustrating the different products carried by medical marijuana dispensaries in California.
I have now visited more dispensaries than I can count and would consider myself a novice medical marijuana patient. I will have more dispensary purchases and stories for you coming up so be sure to subscribe to the 420Cali.com RSS feed to stay up-to-date with our posts!
