Super Sour Diesel packs some serious dankness. A leveled up mix of the famed Sour Diesel, this strain earns its strong Sativa label with a powerful head high and that sweet, musty smell. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, take a long look at the offering first. The buds below are dark green and shine pale white due to the forest of crystals on the surface, lending the nuggets a shimmering effect. Throughout this frosted wonderland, deep orange hairs weave with enough density that you could almost pick them off for a bowl topper.

Bring those buds up to your nose for a powerful citrus skunk, reminiscent of a lemon scented cleaner in the freshest, best way possible. Really, the name says it all: sour diesel. It tastes the same, the lemon twist catching the front of the palate and the fuel flavor deepening the blend. Long after your bowl, you might pick up smacks of tart residue, the lingering tang from this sweet and balanced treat.

The diesel dives straight for your cerebral plane and doesn’t let go.

From the outset, physical effects are minimal, apart from some misplaced coordination or general euphoria. This strain’s playground is the mind, burrowing in and ballooning you up. Sometimes you’ll even get a halo sensation in the yarmulke region, a pulsating feeling akin to brain trying to break past cranial barriers. Alert but not overly so, stress free and creative, this is a minor muse for any sort of artistic work and a trusty companion for leisurely space outs.

As its all in the head, Super Sour Diesel won’t do much for your general aches, pains, or other physical maladies. Stress, depression, and anxiety are the best applications and treatment for insomnia is entirely inadvisable. This is one strain you will not sleep on. As for migraines, the head fireworks may cancel out your personal pain, but it could also exasperate the tension. The most prominent side effect is dry mouth and the risk of headaches on the comedown is definitely present. Super Sour Diesel frees the mind, but sometimes all that running around can tucker the old thing out.

Even though there’s a lot of East Coast pride for the original Sour Diesel, I’m thinking this upgrade might just have the edge.
